Faculty Excellence Awards

The Motlow College Foundation recently sponsored the annual Faculty Excellence Awards ceremony and reception on the Moore County campus. Each year a Nominating Committee is charged with evaluating and scoring nominee submissions.

This year the Nominating Committee moved nine candidates forward for consideration for the prestigious award.

Congratulations to Ms. Misty Griffith who earned the 2019 Faculty Excellence Award for her work as an Assistant Professor of Biology. Ms. Griffith is a Motlow alumna and holds a B.S. in biology from Tennessee Tech University and an M.S. in biology from Middle Tennessee State University. Some of the courses she teaches include microbiology, anatomy, and the first year experience class. She serves as the Phi Theta Kappa advisor for both the McMinnville and Smyrna campuses and in 2018 she received the Distinguished Chapter Advisor Award. In addition to teaching, Misty also serves as an Advisement Specialist, Laboratory Coordinator, and Equipment Custodian at the McMinnville campus. In 2018 she received the International Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished Chapter Advisor Award.

Mr. Peter Dowd received the Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award. Mr. Peter Dowd received the Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award. Mr. Dowd joined Motlow State Community College as an adjunct faculty member at the Smyrna Campus in January 2017. Prior to coming on board at Motlow, Mr. Dowd spent two decades in various leadership roles in medical device sales and management.
